🚨 8:30 PM CDT TROPICAL UPDATE: TROPICAL STORM CHANTEL OFFICIALLY FORMS

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has upgraded Tropical Depression Three to Tropical Storm Chantel.

🌬️ Current position:
▪ Center located about 150 miles south of Charleston, SC
▪ Movement: Slow drift north at 2 mph

🌪️ Forecast:
▪ Chantel will gradually strengthen tonight into Saturday
▪ Tropical Storm conditions possible along parts of the South Carolina coast
▪ Heavy rain and flash flooding risks increase through Saturday and Sunday

🌊 Impacts:
▪ Dangerous rip currents and rough surf
▪ Gusty winds along the coastal regions
▪ Flash flood potential across low-lying areas
