Atlantic Tropical Systems Under Watch
Published: Saturday, August 23, 2025 – 2:00 AM EDT

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two areas of disturbance in the Atlantic basin that could develop in the coming days.

🌊 System #AL90

  • Located well south-southeast of Bermuda.
  • Conditions are favorable for development this weekend.
  • This system may organize into a tropical depression or storm as it tracks northward over open waters.

🌴 System #AL99

  • Located more than 1,000 miles east of the Windward Islands.
  • Environmental conditions are currently less favorable, giving this system only a low chance of development in the near term.

⚠️ What This Means

While neither system poses an immediate threat to the U.S. coast, residents and coastal interests should remain alert as the peak of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches. Even weak systems can bring heavy rain, dangerous seas, and increased rip current risks.

For official forecast updates, visit the National Hurricane Center at hurricanes.gov.

📡 TNW News Hurricane Division will continue tracking the Atlantic and provide updates as conditions evolve.
