TROPICS UPDATE — TWO SYSTEMS UNDER SURVEILLANCE

North-Central Gulf Disturbance: Watching the Western Movement

The TNW Hurricane Operations Center is tracking a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms tied to a trough of low pressure over the north-central Gulf of Mexico. While development remains low (10%) over the next 48 hours, this system could bring locally heavy rainfall to parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and even eastern Texas through the weekend.

Although the National Hurricane Center (NHC) assigns a low chance of tropical formation, TNW's “Path Select” model includes this disturbance due to favorable moisture conditions and the system’s westward trajectory. This disturbance is embedded beneath a dominating heat dome and will likely move inland by Saturday, eliminating further development potential after landfall.

💧 Key Impact: Heavy rain and potential localized flooding, especially in low-lying and coastal areas.

Far Southeast of Hawaii: Tropical Seedling May Emerge

Closer to the Central Pacific, TNW meteorologists are monitoring a new area of low pressure forecast to develop well southeast of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend. Environmental conditions appear marginally favorable for gradual organization as the system moves westward at 10–15 mph.

By early next week, this feature could form into a tropical depression, though this remains a medium-range forecast with a medium (40%) chance of tropical development over the next 7 days.

🌊 Alert Zone: Early awareness advised across the broader Hawaiian region. While it’s too soon to project any direct impacts, the system’s orientation relative to the Islands and warm SSTs (Sea Surface Temperatures) warrant attention.

🌀 TNW News Advisory Summary

  • Gulf System: Low 2-day development chance; rains possible along the U.S. Gulf Coast
  • SE of Hawaii: Medium 7-day development chance; tropical depression possible
  • Next Update: Continuous coverage at http://www.TNWWeather-HurricaneCenter.com and across TNW platforms
  • Hurricane Chief Comment: "While neither system currently poses a major threat, history has shown how fast these features can evolve in warm, moisture-rich environments. TNW remains on alert, and so should you.” – Todd Nardone
