Date: Sunday, August 10, 2025 – 12:00 PM CT
BURLINGTON, IOWA – TNW News Hurricane Operations Division continues to monitor ongoing tropical developments across the Atlantic Basin and Gulf of Mexico as peak hurricane season intensifies. Operations are in full readiness mode from the Burlington Command Center, with meteorologists and field correspondents tracking multiple systems for potential U.S. impacts.
General Manager Todd Nardone, pictured in today’s briefing from the Burlington operations floor, confirmed that the division’s monitoring protocols have shifted to 24/7 coverage due to increased tropical activity. “Our mission is to ensure the public gets accurate, real-time updates, and we’re prepared to act quickly if any of these systems threaten coastal communities,” Nardone stated.
Forecasters are paying close attention to:
A tropical wave in the central Atlantic showing signs of organization and a 60% chance of development over the next 48 hours.
A low-pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico, which may bring heavy rainfall to parts of the U.S. Gulf Coast by midweek.
Lingering impacts from past storms, with recovery efforts ongoing in parts of Florida and the Carolinas.
The Burlington Hurricane Operations Division is coordinating with TNW’s national bureaus, ensuring coverage is delivered across TNWWeather.com, the TNW News YouTube channel, and all TNW social platforms including X, Instagram, and TikTok.
Residents in potentially affected regions are urged to review hurricane plans, check evacuation routes, and prepare emergency supplies. TNW will issue live updates as new advisories are released by the National Hurricane Center.
