The TNW Hurricane Operations Center is closely monitoring two systems in the Atlantic basin. While both systems currently pose low chances of development over the next 7 days, the situation may evolve as we move further into the peak of the hurricane season.
A frontal low-pressure area just offshore the North Carolina coast continues to show signs of limited organization. While tropical or subtropical development is not likely, some characteristics may form as it drifts northeastward through Monday.
A tropical wave is expected to emerge from the West African coast over the next 24ā36 hours. Once over open water, slow development is possible as it moves westward into the central tropical Atlantic by midweek.
Although these systems are not expected to become tropical cyclones in the immediate term, the window for rapid development remains open in the coming weeks. This is a good time to:
