🚨 5 PM EDT TROPICAL UPDATE: CHANTAL NEARING SOUTH CAROLINA COAST

🌬️ Current position:
▪ Center located about 95 miles southeast of Charleston, SC
▪ Moving north at 7 mph (11 km/h)

📈 Forecast track:
▪ North-northwest motion this evening
▪ Turn northeast by Sunday night
▪ Center expected to cross the South Carolina coast overnight or early Sunday morning

🌪️ Wind:
▪ Maximum sustained 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts
▪ Slight strengthening possible before landfall
▪ Rapid weakening expected after landfall

🌊 Impacts:
▪ Tropical storm conditions expected to begin this evening in the warning area
▪ Heavy rainfall, flash flooding, rough surf, dangerous rip currents
