High School Football Forecast — Friday, October 30, 2026

It's Friday night lights, football fans — and tonight, Mother Nature is in the game plan from coast to coast.
The big picture is a classic late-October split. Much of the South and East is sitting pretty under sunny skies, with highs in the 70s and 80s from Alabama and Georgia to Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana enjoy textbook football weather in the 60s, and Illinois checks in near 68 — though a slight chance of rain showers there could make for a slick ball.
Now for the spots where weather is calling the plays. Alaska is the coldest ticket in the country — snow, a high near 27, and a 100 percent chance of precipitation, so bundle up and expect a slick field. Idaho brings a chance of light snow at 45 with an 81 percent chance of precipitation, and Oregon turns chilly at 41 — blankets for the stands in both states.
Storms are the headline across the middle of the country. Arizona sees showers and thunderstorms at 97 percent odds, and Texas is nearly as wet with rain showers at 96 percent — wet fields and slippery ball handling in both states. Oklahoma (84 percent), Nevada (70 percent, with 20-mile-per-hour winds that could push kicks around), Iowa, and Kansas all carry storm chances too, so coaches should keep the lightning safety plan handy and watch for delays.
The breeze bears watching along the East Coast and in Florida, where 15- to 18-mile-per-hour winds could affect long passes and the kicking game. Note: Hawaii's forecast was unavailable from the National Weather Service feed at build time.
Wherever you're watching tonight, dress for the weather and stay weather-aware. That's the TNW News high school football forecast — all fifty states, every Friday night.
