According to the National Weather Service, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect for southern DuPage County, including Aurora, until 7:30 PM CDT. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains active until 7:00 PM CDT for DuPage, Kane, Will, and surrounding counties. Thunderstorms produced wind gusts of 60–70 mph, resulting in downed trees, damaged property, and scattered power outages. Flooding occurred in low-lying areas and underpasses, making travel dangerous. City of Aurora Crews Deployed The City of Aurora Communications Department confirmed that teams are being deployed across the city to respond to storm-related damage. This includes clearing downed trees, addressing power outages, and assisting residents in affected neighborhoods. “City crews are actively deployed and working throughout Aurora to ensure public safety and address storm impacts,” the official city statement read. City Cruise Event Delayed The annual City Cruise in Aurora, which typically draws hundreds of attendees downtown, is being delayed due to the severe weather, per the city’s communications department. Organizers are working closely with local authorities to reschedule the event safely. O’Hare Airport Flight Delays Though an earlier ground stop was temporarily lifted, flights in and out of O’Hare International Airport continue to be delayed or grounded due to the storms. Passengers are urged to check with their airlines for updates and anticipate extended travel times. Power Outages Residents have reported localized power outages throughout Aurora.
