Chicago Hits 104°F — Dangerous Heat Expands Across Region

The dangerous heatwave gripping Chicagoland just hit a new milestone. Between 1:04 PM and 1:31 PM, temperatures in Chicago surged to 104°F, the hottest so far this year. Combined with high humidity, the heat index is pushing toward 110°F, creating life-threatening conditions for anyone outdoors without proper cooling or hydration.

“This is exactly why TNW News issued our advanced operational heat advisory a full 24 hours before the National Weather Service,” said Todd Nardone, General Manager of TNW News. “We don’t wait for permission to protect people — we act.”

🔴 Heat Advisory Remains in Effect Through Thursday

The National Weather Service Heat Advisory continues across Chicagoland and northern Illinois through Thursday evening, including:

  • Aurora
  • Chicago
  • Kane, DuPage, Will Counties
  • And areas as far west as parts of the Pacific Time Zone in downstate Illinois
⚠️ TNW may extend our Operational Heat Alert into Friday if this extreme pattern continues.

🥵 Final Word from TNW News

This is extreme, dangerous heat. We’re not talking about typical summer weather — this can cause heat stroke within minutes if you're not protected.

“TNW News is small but mighty — we’re the team that acts first, not just reports late. And we’ll keep doing that as long as the heat keeps climbing,” said Nardone.
