Aurora, IL ā In the immediate aftermath of last nightās severe thunderstorms, the City of Aurora Public Works Department sprang into action, responding to over 105 calls to 311 regarding downed trees and storm debris blocking local roads. Crews worked overtime throughout the evening and into the early morning, completing 73 service tickets. All but two roadwaysāthose impacted by downed power linesāhave since been cleared and reopened.
The Aurora Emergency Management Agency (EMA) played a crucial role in the response, mobilizing volunteers to assist with cleanup efforts. EMA also offered valuable guidance on weather monitoring and coordinated with ComEdto prioritize power restoration for residents in critical need.

The storm system moved quickly eastward across northeastern Illinois, hammering Aurora, Naperville, Elgin, and Chicago with:
ComEd reported thousands of customers without power during peak storm hours. Crews responded overnight, navigating flooded roads and downed lines. Power has been restored to most affected areas by this morning.
