A powerful winter storm is expected to impact Chicago, Aurora, northern Illinois, northwest Indiana, and southeastern Wisconsin, bringing dangerous travel conditions, potential power outages, and significant snowfall totals.
Apartment residents in Chicago and the City of Aurora are advised to call 311 immediately if heat is not workingin their building. Property owners are required to maintain adequate heat during winter weather events. If safe heat cannot be restored quickly, residents should seek alternate heated shelter.
ComEd reports that crews are prepared to respond if outages occur, but residents are reminded that emergency facilities such as 911 centers, fire stations, and police stations are restored first during widespread outages. Customers are urged to remain patient as crews work safely to restore service.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, carry emergency supplies in their vehicles, and follow all local and state emergency guidance.
