TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT!

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a trough of low pressure over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. It's expected to move northeast over the next few days, bringing some heavy rain/thunderstorms to parts of Florida. We could see some development when it gets offshore of the southeast U.S. coast, but even chances of that are low as the environment will remain somewhat unfavorable for tropical development.

The NHC has given these chances for development into a tropical system:

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.

* Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.
