TNW Weather Update: NHC Monitoring Two Disturbances as Hurricane Season Intensifies

MIAMI – As the Atlantic hurricane season approaches its peak, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring two areas of potential tropical development. These disturbances, located near the Caribbean and off the coast of Africa, could develop into tropical systems in the coming week.

Caribbean Disturbance: Potential Development

The disturbance near the Caribbean is currently producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system could bring gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall to parts of the nearby islands on Tuesday. According to the NHC, the system is expected to move westward across the eastern Caribbean Sea through Tuesday with minimal development.

However, environmental conditions are forecast to become more favorable for tropical development as the system progresses into the central and western Caribbean Sea later this week. The NHC notes that a tropical depression could form during this time, with the probability of development fluctuating between 40-50% over the next seven days.

Tropical Wave Off the Coast of Africa

Meanwhile, another tropical wave has emerged along the west coast of Africa, bringing a large area of showers and thunderstorms. This system is being monitored for potential development as it moves across the Atlantic. While it is too early to determine the exact path or intensity, the NHC will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.

Current Status of the Gulf Disturbance

In other news, the NHC has downgraded the chances of development for the area of showers and storms previously located off the coasts of Texas and Louisiana. This system no longer poses a threat for tropical development.

As these disturbances continue to be monitored, TNW Weather will provide timely updates on any significant changes. For the latest information, stay tuned to TNWWeather.com and our social media channels.
