11 AM EDT June 18 Update: Potential Tropical Cyclone

Potential Tropical Cyclone #One remains a significant weather disturbance, bringing heavy rainfall, coastal flooding, and potential wind impacts along the coasts of Texas and northeastern Mexico. This large system is expected to affect areas far from its center.

Users are advised not to focus solely on the forecast track of this system. The disturbance is expansive, with heavy rainfall, coastal flooding, and wind impacts likely along the coasts of Texas and northeastern Mexico.


Rainfall associated with Potential Tropical Cyclone One will impact large regions of Central America, extending northward across northeastern Mexico and into South Texas. This rainfall will likely lead to significant flash and urban flooding, as well as new and renewed river flooding. Mudslides are also possible in elevated terrains across Central America into Northeast Mexico.


Moderate coastal flooding is expected along much of the Texas Coast from today through midweek.


Tropical storm conditions are anticipated to begin tonight or Wednesday along portions of the Texas coast south of Port O'Connor, and within the Tropical Storm Warning area along the coast of northeastern Mexico.
