Flash Flood Warning for Dallas-Fort Worth Through 10:30 AM

# Flash Flood Warning for Dallas-Fort Worth Through 10:30 AM
Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant Counties, Texas — The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, in effect through 10:30 AM Central time Thursday.
What is happening: A band of thunderstorms is dropping very heavy rain across northwestern Dallas County, Denton County, and Tarrant County. Radar and automated rain gauges showed about 2 inches of rain already down by 7:24 AM, with rainfall rates running 2 to 3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is already happening in spots or about to begin. The warned area covers Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, Carrollton, Frisco, Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Mansfield, Euless, Bedford, Grapevine, Haltom City, Keller, Coppell, and Hurst, including stretches of Interstate 35E, 35W, and 35.
Local impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, along with urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other low-lying and poorly drained spots. If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
What to do:
- Never drive through flooded roads — most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Turn around, don't drown.
- Stay alert to your surroundings; water can rise fast near creeks and underpasses.
- Avoid walking through floodwater — it can be deeper and faster than it looks.
- Keep an eye on the sky and local updates through late morning, when the warning expires.
