City of Aurora Prepares For Significant Snowfall On Wednesday

The City of Aurora is preparing for a significant snow event on Wednesday, with forecasts indicating total snowfall ranging from 3-8 inches.

Beginning tonight, the City's Snow Team will be running 24-hour operations with staff members and contractors, plowing and salting all primary and residential roadways until further notice. Residents can view an interactive map at www.aurora-il.org/SnowMap any time to view plow routes and plowing progress.

If you plan on driving during the snow event, please be extra cautious, reduce speed, and put distance between yourself and other drivers. Stay a minimum of 75 feet behind snowplows, and never attempt to pass them. And, when clearing your driveway, shoveling snow, be sure to avoid shoveling snow into the street.

The City would also like to remind residents that, when two or more inches of snow are present, cars must be moved off the street to make room for plowing operations.

During or within 24 hours after a snow event, cars CAN PARK on the front lawn of a residential property. Additionally, cars CAN PARK over the sidewalk during or within 24 hours after a snow event.

Cars CANNOT PARK on the parkway, though, and cars cannot park on the street when two or more inches of snow are on the ground.

The City's Property Standards Division will be out to enforce the snow parking ordinance throughout the duration of the snow event.
