⚠️ Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Aurora and Chicago ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for multiple counties in northeastern Illinois, including the cities of Aurora and Chicago, effective until 9:00 p.m. CDT. The TNW Weather Center and Breaking News Team are closely monitoring the situation from our operations desk.

📡 Radar Update:
A strong line of storms is sweeping eastward across the region, with intense rain, frequent lightning, and damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph. TNW radar confirms embedded cells within the main line producing brief rotation and possible hail. Flash flooding in low-lying areas may occur rapidly with little warning.

📍 Areas Under Warning:
The warning includes Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will, and Lake Counties. These counties are currently under the radar's most active returns with strong red and orange cores indicating severe weather potential.

⚠️ What To Expect:

  • Wind gusts up to 60–70 mph
  • Quarter-sized hail in isolated areas
  • Blinding rainfall rates
  • Power outages possible
  • Downed trees and minor structural damage likely
