Flood Warning: Mississippi River at Clarksville to Crest Saturday Morning
Clarksville area — The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Flood Warning for the Mississippi River at Clarksville, covering Calhoun County in Illinois and Pike County in Missouri. Minor flooding is forecast through Tuesday morning.
What: The river is expected to rise above flood stage late Thursday evening and crest at 26.0 feet Saturday morning — a foot above the 25.0-foot flood stage. It stood at 24.8 feet at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and should fall back below flood stage early Monday morning.
Where: The Mississippi River at Clarksville, affecting Calhoun County, Illinois and Pike County, Missouri.
When: Issued 9:55 p.m. CDT Thursday, September 24; in effect until 9 a.m. CDT Tuesday, September 29.
Local impacts: At 25.5 feet, State Route P east of Elsberry begins flooding just east of the levee.

What to do: Turn around, don't drown when you encounter flooded roads — most flood deaths happen in vehicles. Avoid flooded sections of Route P near Elsberry and never drive around barricades.
