Flood Warning Extended for Mississippi River at Saverton Through Sunday
Saverton area — The National Weather Service in St. Louis has extended a Flood Warning for the Mississippi River at Saverton, affecting Pike County, Illinois and Ralls County, Missouri. Minor flooding is forecast from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.
What: The river is expected to crest at 16.0 feet early Saturday afternoon — right at flood stage. It stood at 14.9 feet at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Where: The Mississippi River at Saverton, impacting Pike County, Illinois and Ralls County, Missouri.
When: Issued 9:55 p.m. CDT Thursday, September 24; in effect until 7 p.m. CDT Sunday, September 27.
Local impacts: At 15.5 feet, an access road to the riverside raised homes on the riverward side of the Sny levee begins to flood.

What to do: Turn around, don't drown when you encounter flooded roads — most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay clear of low-lying riverside roads this weekend and never drive around barricades.
