Aurora, Illinois – Saturday, September 6, 2025 – 4:07 PM CDT
TNW News LLC reaffirms its mission as a modern, independent weather and news company committed to delivering trustworthy local and national weather journalism free of charge. Built for this century, TNW is structured to adapt and pivot quickly between local and national weather coverage when necessary, leveraging its Aurora, Illinois headquarters, its Iowa operations office, and its Oklahoma field bureau.
Commitment to Free Services & Our Unique Bundle
TNW News offers a comprehensive bundle of services—all free and designed for cord cutters and cord nevers:
Quick Weather Today (podcast & YouTube)
Quick Weather Weekend with Ashley Jones (podcast & YouTube)
School Bus Stop Forecasts
Daily Weather Newsletter (resuming after Nov 30, 2025 at 12 PM)
Severe Weather & Hurricane Operations Coverage
General Manager Todd Nardone stated:
“Some companies rely on charging for weather access. TNW News does it differently. We provide our full bundle free—because safety and trust come first.”
CEO Jim Nardone (Aurora HQ) and VP Rachel Nardone (Iowa) reinforced:
“Our job isn’t profit—it’s providing accurate, trustworthy, and accessible weather journalism that protects families.”
Looking Ahead – Digital Accessibility
TNWWeather.com can be saved as an “app” on iPhone or Android, giving instant access to forecasts, alerts, and live coverage.
Instructions on how to do this were provided in the Friday, September 5, 2025 press release, which included a video message from General Manager Todd Nardone, a step-by-step demonstration video, and screenshots showing TNWWeather.com added on iPhone and iPad home screens.
School Bus Stop Forecasts: Delivered weekdays by 8 AM (adjusted for breaks and weather-related schedule changes).
Daily Weather Newsletter: Paused until November 30, 2025, then resuming at 12 PM daily.
“It’s simple to make TNWWeather.com an app on your phone,” said GM Todd Nardone in Friday’s message. “The demonstration video shows every step so our viewers never miss a weather update.”
New Radar, Cameras, Forecasting, and Weekend Programming
TNW is strengthening its technical coverage and programming with several major updates:
Own Radar Network: A TNW-exclusive radar system powered by Weather Underground stations will soon launch, delivering improved accuracy and reliability.
Expanded Camera Network: In addition to EarthCam, WeatherBug, and AccuWeather, TNW has added a new North Aurora, Illinois weather camera via WorldCamera.com, available under the Aurora Weather Camera tab on TNWWeather.com.
Seven-Day Forecasts: TNW has begun rolling out its very own seven-day forecast, powered by the internal TNW Weather Model. Forecasts will be delivered on a morning, midday, and evening schedule, with adjustments made on days when schools are closed.
Ashley Returns: The beloved Quick Weather Weekend with Ashley Jones podcast and YouTube show is back in full force, adding depth to TNW’s weekend coverage.
General Manager Todd Nardone noted that TNW is also adapting its delivery methods to reach millennials and cord nevers:
“We’re adapting to younger audiences and cord nevers by creating flexible content. A YouTube video can also become a podcast, ensuring people can choose how to listen or watch. This evolution keeps TNW accessible across every platform.”
Weather Alerts – Powered by The Weather Company
TNW will continue to deliver trusted weather alerts through The Weather Company. This long-standing partnership ensures that Aurora and surrounding communities receive accurate and timely alerts, no matter how TNW’s radar, camera, or forecast tools expand in the future.
Industry Context
The streaming and broadcast industry continues to shift rapidly:
ESPN launched its standalone streaming platform.
FOX Corporation launched FOX One, a $19.99/month all-in-one platform for News, Sports, and Entertainment, targeting 65 million U.S. households outside the cable bundle.
NBCUniversal, Paramount+, and Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO Max) are restructuring around subscription-first strategies.
By contrast, TNW News remains free, weather-first, and consumer-centered.
Industry Insight: The Audio Bundle
For nearly a century, radio has been the soundtrack of daily life — informing, entertaining, and connecting communities. But in 2025, the world of “audio” is no longer confined to the dial. Podcasts, audiobooks, smart speakers, and streaming platforms have fragmented the soundscape.
The opportunity for broadcasters — and media brands — lies in becoming curators of the broader audio ecosystem. Instead of treating podcasts, live events, or TikTok snippets as competitors, they can weave them into a unified brand experience:
Repurpose on-air content into podcasts.
Extend into concerts, town halls, and live community events.
Tie in playlists and digital companions for seamless cross-platform listening.
Consumers are already bundling their own experiences across platforms. If stations — or weather networks — don’t provide the bridge between these formats, someone else will.
RadioInk recently noted that the local podcasting space remains largely unclaimed by traditional broadcasters, even as independent players like CityCast, Axios Local, and Locked On thrive by producing local, on-demand shows. This shift highlights the urgency for radio stations to adapt by merging broadcast with podcast. (RadioInk, June 30, 2025)
The lesson for TNW News: Just as radio can evolve into an audio bundle, TNW continues to evolve as a weather bundle — podcasts, live coverage, newsletters, radar, cameras, and hyperlocal alerts — all free, all trustworthy, and all under one umbrella.
Regulatory Note
The broadcast sector also faces ongoing consolidation. Nexstar Media Group CEO Perry Sook recently emphasized optimism about FCC regulatory approval:
“In my 45-plus years in the industry, … the prospect of meaningful broadcast ownership reform has never been better than it is today.”
“We feel very, very positive about moving forward with the regulatory approval process.”
Closing Statement
“As larger companies prioritize profits, TNW News keeps weather coverage free and trustworthy,” said GM Todd Nardone. “From Aurora to Iowa and Oklahoma, our focus is simple: weather when necessary, national when necessary, always free.”
