Major Updates – September 2025
TNW News LLC is strengthening its weather coverage with new tools and expanded accessibility:
- TNW Radar Max – Live Now Operated from TNW News headquarters in Aurora, Illinois, TNW Radar Max is powered by Weather Underground data from TNW’s own Aurora HQ weather station. The system delivers hyper-local accuracy and reliability and is available now under the Radar & Cameras tab on TNWWeather.com.
- Weather Camera Network – Independent Feeds A curated collection of independent, third-party cameras from EarthCam, WeatherBug, AccuWeather, WorldCamera.com, and others. The latest addition is a North Aurora camera via WorldCamera.com.
- Weather Alerts – Button on Every Homepage A Weather Alert button now appears at the bottom of every TNWWeather.com homepage, similar to the Forecast or Top Story features at the top. Clicking the button redirects viewers to the TNW News Weather page, which connects directly to The Weather Channel’s official alert feed.
- Seven-Day Forecasts TNW’s internal Weather Model provides seven-day forecasts on a morning, midday, and evening cycle, adjusted for school closures and schedule changes.
- Ashley Returns Quick Weather Weekend with Ashley Jones is back, offering weekend depth on both YouTube and podcast platforms.
- Daily Weather Newsletter Paused during the fall storm season and resuming November 30, 2025 at 12 PM daily.
GM Todd Nardone stated: “Our Aurora headquarters powers the TNW Radar Max system with Weather Underground, while our Weather Camera Network brings together independent feeds for real-time visibility. With radar, cameras, and alerts all in one place, TNW remains nimble, free, and trustworthy.”

Industry Context & Regulatory Note
The streaming and broadcast industry continues to shift rapidly:
- ESPN launched its standalone streaming platform.
- FOX Corporation rolled out FOX One, a $19.99/month bundle for News, Sports, and Entertainment.
- NBCUniversal, Paramount+, and Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO Max) are restructuring around subscription-first strategies.
- Paramount–WBD Merger Insight: Paramount is preparing an Ellison-backed all-cash offer for Warner Bros Discovery, consolidating CBS, CNN, HBO, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Discovery Channel, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros Studios.
SCC (FCC) Chairman Meeting The SCC Chairman recently convened to consider loosening rules on regional broadcast ownership, potentially allowing networks to own more stations in the same market without penalty.
TNW stands apart as nimble, independent, and consumer-first:
- No subscription fees.
- No consolidation motives.
- Free, trustworthy, weather-first journalism.
The Audio Bundle – A Lesson for Media
Radio once dominated as the daily soundtrack, but podcasts, audiobooks, and streaming now fragment listening.
Lesson for TNW: Just as broadcasters are urged to evolve into an “audio bundle,” TNW evolves as a weather bundle—podcasts, newsletters, radar, cameras, and hyper-local alerts—all free, all trustworthy, all under one umbrella.
Closing Statement
“As larger companies prioritize profits, TNW News keeps weather coverage free and trustworthy,” said GM Todd Nardone. “From Aurora to Iowa and Oklahoma, our focus is simple: weather when necessary, national when necessary, always free.”
