DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE (DUA) NOW AVAILABLE IN 37 KENTUCKY COUNTIES

President Trump Expands Federal Disaster Declaration at Governor Beshear’s Request

📍 FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky residents who lost work due to April's devastating severe storms now have access to Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA), thanks to a federal disaster declaration approved by President Donald Trump and expanded at the request of Governor Andy Beshear.

The original disaster declaration, signed on April 24, has now been amended (May 14) to include an additional 24 counties, making a total of 37 counties eligible for DUA.

“This expansion ensures that more Kentuckians who lost jobs, income, or work access because of these storms can get the help they need to recover,” said Gov. Beshear.

✅ WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR DUA BENEFITS?

DUA is available to individuals who:

• Worked or were self-employed and lost work due to the disaster
• Can’t access their workplace because of disaster-related damage or closure
• Are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits
• Were injured or lost their family’s primary earner due to the storm

📅 Coverage Period:
April 6 – October 25, 2025 (Up to 29 weeks of assistance)

📌 Application Deadline:
June 23, 2025

Original 13 Counties:
Anderson, Boone, Carroll, Christian, Clark, Franklin, Hardin, Hopkins, Jessamine, McCracken, Mercer, Owen, Woodford

Newly Added 24 Counties:
Breckinridge, Bullitt, Calloway, Daviess, Garrard, Grayson, Hancock, Hart, Henderson, Henry, Jefferson, LaRue, Lincoln, McLean, Meade, Muhlenberg, Nelson, Ohio, Oldham, Pendleton, Powell, Trimble, Warren, Webster

• Apply online: kcc.ky.gov
• Call for help: 502-564-2900

📄 Required documents:

• Valid photo ID
• Proof of residence at time of disaster (e.g. utility bill)
• 2024 tax return or pay stubs

🌀 Note: DUA is funded by FEMA and does not affect employers.
