# Tornado Warning for Harnett and Johnston Counties Through 1:15 PM
**Dunn, N.C. —** A tornado warning is in effect for northeastern Harnett County and southwestern Johnston County until 1:15 PM ET Sunday. The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued the warning after radar showed rotation inside a severe thunderstorm.
**What is happening:** At 12:41 PM ET, the storm was near Dunn, about 8 miles east of Lillington, moving northeast at 35 mph. Dunn and Benson are in the storm's path around 12:45 PM. Other communities in the way include Coats, Coats Crossroads, Erwin, and Four Oaks, plus drivers on Interstate 95 between mile markers 81 and 79.
**Local impacts:** The tornado is the main danger, and radar shows the storm is rotating. Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Expect damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles, along with tree damage.
**What to do:**
- Take shelter now in a sturdy building — lowest floor, interior room, away from windows.
- Protect your head and neck.
- Mobile home residents should move to a stronger building or designated shelter.
- Do not try to outrun the storm in a car — get inside.
