# Tornado Warning for Halifax, Nash and Warren Counties Through 3:15 PM
**Nashville, N.C. —** A tornado warning is in effect for parts of three central North Carolina counties until 3:15 PM EDT Sunday, as a severe thunderstorm with radar-indicated rotation pushes northeast toward the Littleton area.
**What is happening:**
The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued the warning at 2:27 PM EDT for southeastern Warren County, north central Nash County and northwestern Halifax County. At that time the tornadic storm sat about 10 miles north of Nashville, moving northeast at 35 mph. Radar is showing rotation inside the storm — that spin is what can drop a tornado with little further warning.
The dangerous storm is expected near Littleton around 3:00 PM EDT. Glenview, Weldon, Arcola, South Weldon and Medoc Mountain State Park are also in the path. Drivers on Interstate 95 between mile markers 154 and 173 should be ready to get off the highway and shelter.
**Local impacts:**
Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Expect damage to roofs, windows and vehicles, and tree damage is likely.
**What to do:**
- Get to the lowest floor of a sturdy building now — an interior room with no windows.
- If you live in a mobile home, leave it for a sturdier shelter nearby.
- Stay away from windows and cover your head.
- If you are driving on I-95, do not try to outrun the storm — pull off and shelter in a sturdy building.
- Keep your phone charged and a way to receive warnings with you.
