Tornado Warning for Claiborne, Lincoln, and Union Parishes Through 3:45 PM
Bernice, Louisiana — The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Tornado Warning for parts of north Louisiana, in effect until 3:45 PM CST on Tuesday, November 3.
What is happening:
A severe thunderstorm showing rotation on radar and capable of producing a tornado was located about 11 miles southwest of Bernice, or about 13 miles east of Homer, at 3:01 PM CST. The storm is moving northeast at about 20 miles per hour. The warning covers northwestern Lincoln Parish, west central Union Parish, and east central Claiborne Parish. Communities in the path include Bernice and Lisbon. Forecasters warn that heavy rain is hiding this tornado, so residents should not wait to see or hear it before taking cover.
Local impacts:
Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed, and damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles is expected. Tree damage is also likely.
What to do:
- Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building, away from windows.
- If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
- Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. Take cover now.
