## Tornado Warning for Cibola, McKinley and Sandoval Counties Through 3:15 PM
Marquez, NM —
**What is happening:** The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Cibola, McKinley and Sandoval counties in west-central New Mexico, running through 3:15 PM MDT. At 2:52 PM MDT, radar showed a severe thunderstorm near Marquez — about 20 miles north of Laguna Pueblo — spinning with rotation capable of producing a tornado. The storm is moving northeast at 40 miles per hour.
**Local impacts:** This storm is producing ping-pong-ball-size hail alongside the tornado threat. Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed, and roofs, windows and vehicles will take damage. Tree damage is likely. Marquez and the surrounding rural areas are in the path.
**What to do:**
- Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building, away from windows.
- If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, get to the closest substantial shelter now.
- Protect yourself from flying debris — cover your head and neck.
