# Tornado Warning for Central Bladen County Through 1:15 PM


**Elizabethtown, N.C. —** A tornado warning is in effect for central Bladen County until 1:15 PM ET Sunday. The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued the warning after radar showed rotation inside a severe thunderstorm southeast of the area.


**What is happening:** At 12:26 PM ET, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near Elkton, about 8 miles south of Elizabethtown. The storm is moving northeast at 25 mph. The warning stays in place through 1:15 PM ET.


**Local impacts:** Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes can be damaged or destroyed. Roofs, windows, and vehicles can take damage, and tree damage is likely. Towns in the path include Elizabethtown, Lagoon, Lisbon, Elkton, Clarkton, and White Lake.


**What to do:**

- Get inside a sturdy building right away — go to the lowest floor, an interior room away from windows.

- If you live in a mobile home, leave it for a sturdier shelter.

- Avoid windows. Cover your head and neck.

- If you are driving, do not try to outrun the storm. Pull over somewhere safe, stay low, and protect your head.
