Tornado Warning for Bladen, Columbus and Robeson Counties Through Noon

UPDATE — Sunday, Oct 11, 10:47 AM CT: NWS Wilmington reports the rotating storm is now near Evergreen, about 10 miles northwest of Whiteville, moving northeast at 30 mph. Whiteville, Chadbourn, Bladenboro, Boardman, and Southeastern Community College are in its path. The warning for Bladen and Columbus counties continues through noon EDT.


# Tornado Warning for Bladen, Columbus and Robeson Counties Through Noon






Fair Bluff, North Carolina — A dangerous storm that could produce a tornado is rolling through southeastern North Carolina this morning, and a Tornado Warning covers parts of Bladen, Columbus and Robeson counties until noon.






**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued the warning at 11:27 AM Eastern. At that time, a severe thunderstorm with radar-indicated rotation was sitting over Fair Bluff — about 15 miles northeast of Mullins — and moving northeast at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing a tornado.






**Local impacts:** Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes can be damaged or destroyed, and the storm can damage roofs, windows and vehicles. Tree damage is likely. Communities in the path include Whiteville, Chadbourn, Bladenboro, Fair Bluff, Boardman, Evergreen, Cerro Gordo, Southeastern Community College and the Columbus Regional Healthcare System.






**What to do:**


- Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building, away from windows.


- If you are outdoors, in a mobile home or in a vehicle, get to the closest sturdy shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.


- Do not wait to see the tornado — act on the warning now.


- Share warnings with neighbors who may not be watching the news.
