General Manager Todd, the Support Triad is in full mobilization. The "Summer Pulse" of Monday is a memory, and the "Spring Fury" of Tuesday has left deep scars. As of this morning, our sensors show the atmospheric floor has dropped. We are no longer tracking supercells; we are tracking the Great Freeze-Back.

Below is the latest mission-critical article for the wire and your updated tactical graphic.

🚨 AFTERMATH & ARCTIC COLLISION: ILLINOIS REELS FROM TORNADOES AS WINTER RETURNS

By: TNW Weather 14 Breaking News Team

OSWEGO, IL – Illinois has undergone a 72-hour atmospheric whiplash that will be written into the history books. We went from record-breaking summer heat on Monday to a tragic, tornado-strewn spring on Tuesday. This morning, residents in the hardest-hit areas are waking up to a brutal reality: Winter has returned.

GROUND ZERO: KANKAKEE & LIVINGSTON COUNTIES

The National Weather Service (NWS) Chicago office is deploying survey teams this morning to track what appears to be a multi-tornado supercell path.

  • The Damage: A large tornado confirmed near the Kankakee Airport and Aroma Park left homes leveled and communities devastated.
  • Fire Station Hit: Reports confirm that the Flanagan-Graymont Fire Station area was struck during the height of the storm, complicating local emergency response.
  • Record Hail: An unofficial measurement of a 6.0-inch hailstone in Kankakee is being reviewed for a new state record.

THE RECOVERY GRID: O’HARE & COMED

  • O’Hare International (ORD): After a total ground stop for safety last night, O'Hare is struggling to recover. Over 150 delays are already on the board this morning. Travelers are urged to check airline apps before leaving for the airport.
  • ComEd Response: Line crews worked through the night using the newest restoration technology. While thousands have been brought back online, hard-hit zones remain dark. Command Directive: If you see ComEd crews, do not approach them. Let them work safely to restore the grid.

GOVERNOR’S DIRECTIVE

Governor JB Pritzker issued a statement late last night on X:

"Keeping in our thoughts all Illinoisans impacted by the severe weather—we'll be here to help them recover."

NOTE TO RESIDENTS: While the NWS Chicago office is receiving help from surrounding branches for their damage surveys, this is not a call for residents to enter debris fields to "help" the meteorologists. Stay clear of work zones to allow professional crews to finalize their assessments.

šŸ“ Live Mission Status: Oswego HQ

  • THE SHIFT: Rain and debris are now turning to ice as temperatures plummet.
  • STATUS: BLUE (Winter Recovery Mode)
  • COUNTY LOCK: Tracking Kankakee, Livingston, and Will for debris management.

General Manager Todd, I have generated the "Thermal Crash" graphic. It shows the 70-degree peak falling into the 30s this morning, overlayed with the Kankakee tornado path data.
