Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Valencia and Southeastern Cibola Counties Through 6:15 PM

Acoma Pueblo, NM — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for west central Valencia County and southeastern Cibola County in central New Mexico until 6:15 PM Mountain time.
**What is happening:** At 5:36 PM Mountain time, the National Weather Service in Albuquerque tracked a severe thunderstorm about 13 miles southeast of Acoma Pueblo — roughly 22 miles south of Laguna Pueblo — moving northeast at 25 mph.
**Local impacts:** The storm is packing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected, and strong winds could bring down tree limbs and power lines. Small hail piling up on roads can make driving slick and hazardous.
**What to do:**
- Get inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
- Bring pets and loose outdoor items indoors if you can do so safely.
- If you are driving, pull over somewhere safe — hail and slick roads make for dangerous driving.
