# Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Stanley County Through 12:45 PM

## What is happening:

A severe thunderstorm is moving across west central Stanley County this Sunday morning. The National Weather Service in Aberdeen issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning just before noon that runs through 12:45 PM CDT. The storm was picked up on radar around 10:45 AM MDT about five miles west of Sansarc, roughly 36 miles south of Eagle Butte, and it is drifting east at about 15 miles per hour. Forecasters expect the storm to reach Sansarc around 11:05 AM MDT.

## Local impacts:

The main hazards are large hail and damaging straight-line winds. Radar suggests hail up to the size of ping pong balls, along with wind gusts near 60 miles per hour. That combination can crack windshields, dent vehicles, tear at shingles and siding, and bring down tree limbs. Anyone caught outside when the storm moves through could be hurt.

## What to do:

- Get inside a well-built building now and stay there until the warning ends.

- Move away from windows and glass doors.

- Bring pets and livestock under cover if you can do so safely.

- Wait for the all-clear — a new storm cell can follow the first.
