Sandoval County, NM — The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has put central Sandoval County under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning through 9:00 PM Central.

**What is happening:** At 7:20 PM Mountain time, radar showed a severe thunderstorm sitting about 11 miles south of Torreon Navajo Mission, roughly 28 miles south of Cuba, and pushing northeast at 35 mph. The warning covers central Sandoval County, including Torreon Navajo Mission, the community of Torreon, and Highway 550 between Torreon and Cuba.

**Local impacts:** The storm is packing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail that size can dent and crack vehicles, and the winds are strong enough to damage roofs and siding and bring down tree limbs.

**What to do:**

- Get inside a well-built structure now and stay away from windows.

- This storm can produce damaging wind and large hail without much warning.

- Report severe weather to local law enforcement or the Weather Service office in Albuquerque.
