UPDATE — Sunday, September 27, 6:40 PM CT: The National Weather Service updated the warning — the storm was located over Willow Park, about 7 miles east of Weatherford, moving south at 10 mph, with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Weatherford, Willow Park, Aledo, Hudson Oaks, Annetta and Lake Weatherford were in the path around 6:45 PM. The warning runs through 7:00 PM CDT.

Parker County, Texas — A severe thunderstorm is rolling through northeastern Parker County toward the Weatherford area.

What is happening:

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Parker County in north central Texas, in effect through 7:00 PM CDT. At 6:21 PM, radar tracked the storm near Lake Weatherford, about seven miles southwest of Azle, moving southeast at 10 mph. Forecasters say it will reach Weatherford, Willow Park, and Lake Weatherford around 6:25 PM and Aledo around 6:40 PM, with Peaster and Annetta North also in its path. The storm track covers Interstate 20 between mile markers 404 and 421.

Local impacts:

The storm is producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail that size can dent and damage vehicles. Winds that strong can tear at roofs and siding and bring down trees and large branches. Continuous cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

What to do:

- Get inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.

- Move indoors immediately if you are outside — lightning can strike far from the storm.

- If you are driving on I-20, consider pulling off the highway and waiting it out.
