# Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Mohave, San Bernardino and Clark Counties Through 4:30 PM PDT

## What is happening:

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Mohave County, Arizona, and San Bernardino County, California, through 4:30 PM PDT, and updated the warning at 3:48 PM PDT to also cover south central Clark County, Nevada, through 4:15 PM PDT. A line of severe thunderstorms stretched from 6 miles west of Laughlin to 20 miles southwest of the city, moving east at 15 mph, while a separate severe cell sat near Katherine Landing, racing east at 35 mph. Radar showed the storms were strongest along the Colorado River corridor, and towns in the path include Bullhead City, Laughlin, and Katherine Landing.

## Local impacts:

The storms are capable of 60 mph wind gusts and small hail — enough to damage roofs and siding and bring down tree limbs. Anyone on or near the Colorado River is in the direct path of the strongest wind.

## What to do:

- Get inside a well-built structure now and stay away from windows.

- If you are on or near the Colorado River or Lake Mohave, get off the water immediately and move indoors or into a vehicle.

- Remember that lightning can strike as far as 15 miles from the parent storm — if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be hit.
