Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Mesquite and Northeastern Clark County Through 10:45 PM
Mesquite, Nevada — A severe thunderstorm is moving north through the Mesquite area right now, and the National Weather Service has put northeastern Clark County, southeastern Lincoln County, and north central Mohave County under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning through 10:45 PM tonight.
What is happening: The storm was sitting right over Mesquite at 10:07 PM, tracking north at 45 miles per hour. It is a fast mover. The warning covers Mesquite, Beaver Dam, Littlefield, and Bunkerville along the Interstate 15 corridor, plus rural stretches of the three-county area. It runs through 10:45 PM Pacific and Mountain time.
Local impacts: Radar is showing a storm capable of 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail that size can dent cars and crack windshields. The winds are strong enough to rip siding, peel roofing, and knock down tree limbs and power lines.
What to do:
- Get inside a sturdy building now and stay there until the storm passes.
- Keep away from windows — flying debris and hail are the biggest danger.
- If you are driving on I-15, get off the road and into shelter; do not try to outrun it.
- Secure loose outdoor items like patio furniture and trash cans.
