Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Los Angeles County Through 10:45 AM PT

Los Angeles, CA —
**What is happening:**
The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Los Angeles County through 10:45 AM PT. At 9:59 AM PT, radar picked up a severe thunderstorm over Carson, near Torrance, tracking north at 25 miles per hour.
**Local impacts:**
The storm is packing wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, strong enough to damage roofs, siding, and trees. Forecasters also see a small chance this storm could briefly spin up a weak tornado.
**What to do:**
- Stay alert for a possible tornado — severe storms like this can spin one up with little warning.
- If you spot a tornado, get into a basement or a small interior room in a sturdy building immediately.
- If you must drive, expect strong crosswinds and flying debris; keep your headlights on and both hands on the wheel.
