Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Graham and Greenlee Counties Through 3:00 PM

## Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Graham and Greenlee Counties Through 3:00 PM
Safford, AZ —
**What is happening:** The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Graham County and west central Greenlee County in southeastern Arizona, running through 3:00 PM MST. At 2:12 PM, a severe thunderstorm was spotted 7 miles north of Thatcher, moving northeast at 30 miles per hour — the same storm line that has been hammering the Safford area this afternoon. A Tornado Watch stays in effect for a portion of southeast Arizona until 8:00 PM MST.
**Local impacts:** Wind gusts to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail are expected. Hail damage to vehicles is likely, and the winds can tear at roofs, siding and trees. Places in the path include Safford, Thatcher, Solomon, the Safford Regional Airport, Roper Lake State Park, Pima, Central, Swift Trail Junction, Frye Mesa Dam and Mount Graham. Drivers on Route 191 between mile markers 114 and 120 and 173 and 178, and Route 70 between mile markers 312 and 344, should expect sudden heavy rain and hail.
**What to do:**
- Move inside a sturdy building and stay on the lowest floor, in an interior room away from windows.
- If you are driving, slow down and give the storm a wide berth — hail can shatter windshields.
- Secure loose outdoor items before the wind arrives.
