Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Gila and Navajo Counties Through 4:30 AM

Cibecue, AZ —
**What is happening:** A dangerous severe thunderstorm is rolling northeast across the White Mountains of east-central Arizona early this morning. The National Weather Service in Flagstaff put Gila County and Navajo County under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 4:30 AM MST. As of 3:57 AM, the storm sat about 17 miles southwest of Cibecue and was pushing northeast at 40 miles an hour. Cibecue, Carrizo, Cibecue Airport, Chediski Peak, Cibeque Falls and Grasshopper Butte are all in its path.
**Local impacts:** Expect wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour and hail as big as half-dollars. The weather service warns the hail could damage vehicles, and the winds are strong enough to tear siding, strip shingles and knock down tree limbs. Torrential rain is falling inside the storm as well, and that downpour could touch off flash flooding.
**What to do:**
- Get inside a sturdy building now and stay there until the warning ends.
- Keep away from windows — hail and flying debris are the biggest dangers.
- If water starts covering a road, do not drive through it. Turn around.
