**UPDATE — Monday, September 28, 6:05 PM CT:** The National Weather Service in Grand Forks reports the storm was over Glyndon, 11 miles east of Fargo, moving east at 30 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and small hail. Glyndon, Sabin, Downer, Averill and Buffalo River are in its path, including I-94 between mile markers 6 and 16. The warning runs through 6:15 PM.

Fargo, North Dakota — A severe thunderstorm is pushing through the Fargo-Moorhead metro right now, and the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for western Clay County, Minnesota, and southeastern Cass County, North Dakota, until 6:15 PM CDT.

What is happening:

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks issued the warning at 5:13 PM CDT. At that time, the storm was sitting over West Fargo — right on top of Fargo — and moving east at 30 miles an hour. Radar shows the storm producing 60-mile-an-hour wind gusts. Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, Dilworth, Horace, Glyndon and Mapleton are all in the warned area, along with Interstate 29 between mile markers 57 and 72 and Interstate 94 on both sides of the state line.

Local impacts:

Winds up to 60 miles an hour can tear at roofing and siding, snap tree limbs and scatter debris across roadways. Drivers on I-29 and I-94 through the metro should expect sudden gusty crosswinds and blinding downpours.

What to do:

- Get inside a sturdy building and stay away from windows.

- If you spot rotation or a funnel, move at once to a basement or a small interior room on the lowest floor.

- Stay off the roads until the storm passes; downed limbs and power lines are possible.
