Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Edwards County Through 3:15 AM
# Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Edwards County Through 3:15 AM
**Edwards County, Texas —** The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwestern Edwards County in south central Texas through 3:15 AM Thursday.
## What is happening:
At 2:24 AM, radar picked up a severe thunderstorm about 12 miles west of Rocksprings, drifting northeast at 15 miles per hour. The storm is carrying 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and quarter-size hail — that is hail about the size of a coin, big enough to dent cars. The storm is moving slowly over mainly rural parts of northwestern Edwards County.
## Local impacts:
Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is likely. Torrential rainfall is also falling with this storm and could lead to flash flooding on rural roads.
## What to do:
- Get inside a sturdy building and move to an interior room on the lowest floor.
- Stay away from windows until the storm passes.
- Do not drive through flooded roadways — water on a road can hide a washed-out surface.
