# Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Edwards and Val Verde Counties Through Midnight

Del Rio, TX — A severe thunderstorm rolling east across south-central Texas late tonight has prompted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwestern Edwards County and northeastern Val Verde County through midnight CDT, according to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio.

## What is happening:

At 11:00 PM CDT, radar showed the severe storm 12 miles east of Juno, moving east at 30 mph. The warning covers the area near U.S. 277 around the Sutton–Edwards County line and stays in effect until midnight.

## Local impacts:

The storm is throwing 60 mph wind gusts and half-dollar-size hail — hail that size dents vehicles and can smash windows. Forecasters expect damage to roofs, siding and trees in the storm's path. Torrential rain is falling with this storm too, raising a flash-flood risk on top of the wind and hail.

## What to do:

- Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building and stay away from windows.

- Do not drive through flooded roadways — turn around and find another route.

- If you are caught outside, get inside a sturdy structure; a vehicle is better than nothing if hail starts falling.
