**Corson and Dewey Counties, S.D. —** A strong thunderstorm is moving through north central South Dakota this morning, and the National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of two counties until 7:45 AM Central time.

What is happening: The warning covers south central Corson County and north central Dewey County. At about 5:57 AM Mountain time, radar showed a severe thunderstorm near the Little Moreau Recreation Area, roughly nine miles south of Timber Lake, moving northeast at 30 mph. Forecasters expect it to reach the Little Moreau area around 6:00 AM, Glencross near 6:20 AM, and Trail City around 6:35 AM Mountain time.

Local impacts: This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail as large as quarters (about an inch in diameter). Hail of that size can dent and damage vehicles, and the gusts are strong enough to tear shingles and siding from roofs and bring down tree limbs.

What to do:

- Get inside a sturdy building now and stay away from windows.

- Move vehicles under cover if you can do it safely.

- Secure or bring in loose outdoor items like patio furniture and trash cans.
