**What is happening:**

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Coconino County in north central Arizona and Yavapai County in west central Arizona, in effect until 9:30 AM MST (11:30 AM CT). At 9:06 this morning, radar was tracking a severe thunderstorm over Verde Lakes, about 6 miles southeast of Camp Verde, moving north at 50 miles per hour.

**Local impacts:**

This storm is packing hail the size of quarters, which radar shows is already falling and is expected to damage vehicles. Communities in the path include Camp Verde, the Village of Oak Creek, Lake Montezuma, Cornville, Middle Verde, Rimrock, Page Springs, Montezuma Castle National Monument and the surrounding Verde Valley.

**What to do:**

- Get inside a sturdy building and stay away from windows — this storm can throw hail hard enough to damage cars.

- Remember that tornadoes can spin up quickly from severe thunderstorms — if you hear a roar or see a funnel, get to an interior room on the lowest floor right away.

- If you are driving, pull well off the road and wait out the storm.
