Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clay County Through 10:15 PM

Clay County, Texas — The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Clay County in northern Texas, in effect until 10:15 PM CDT.

What is happening: At 9:38 PM, radar showed a strong thunderstorm about six miles southeast of Bluegrove, drifting east at about 15 miles per hour. The storm is producing winds of up to 60 miles per hour and hail as large as quarters. Bellevue and Vashti are in the path of this storm.

Local impacts: Quarter-size hail can dent cars and damage siding and windows. Wind gusts near 60 miles per hour can tear off shingles, knock down branches, and topple weak trees.

What to do:

- Head indoors now if you are in southeastern Clay County.

- Move to a room on the lowest floor, away from windows.

- Keep pets and vehicles under shelter if you can do so safely.

- Stay off the roads until the warning expires — gusty winds can make driving dangerous, especially for tall vehicles.
