Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Cibola, McKinley and Sandoval Counties Through 7:30 PM MDT

Marquez, NM — The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Sandoval County, northeastern Cibola County, and east-central McKinley County in west-central New Mexico, in effect until 7:30 PM MDT tonight.
## What is happening:
At 6:49 PM MDT, radar showed a severe thunderstorm near Marquez, about 17 miles north of Laguna Pueblo, moving northeast at 35 mph. The storm is carrying 60-mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Marquez, Cebolletita, Seboyeta, and Bibo are in the path.
## Local impacts:
Quarter-size hail is expected to damage vehicles, and 60-mph winds can rip at roofs, siding, and trees. Drivers on rural roads between Marquez and Laguna Pueblo should expect sudden low visibility and blowing debris.
## What to do:
- Get inside a well-built structure and move to an interior room on the lowest floor.
- Stay away from windows — hail this size breaks glass.
- If you are driving, pull off the road and shelter in a sturdy building until the storm passes.
