Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Catron County Through 7:15 PM MDT
Catron County, New Mexico — The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Catron County until 7:15 PM MDT.
## What is happening:
At 6:28 PM MDT, radar showed a severe thunderstorm near Mogollon, about 18 miles south of Reserve, moving northeast at 45 mph. The storm carries 60-mph wind gusts and hail up to quarter size. Reserve, Cruzville, Apache Creek, San Francisco Plaza, Aragon, and Mogollon are in the storm's path.
## Local impacts:
Quarter-size hail is expected to damage vehicles, and 60-mph winds can rip roofs, siding, and trees. Small hail piling up on roads can make driving slick and dangerous. A Tornado Watch is also in effect for the region until 9:00 PM MDT.
## What to do:
- Get inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
- Watch for slippery roads where hail has collected.
- Tornadoes can spin up fast out of severe thunderstorms — be ready to move to an interior room on the lowest floor.
