Caddo and Comanche Counties, Oklahoma — A severe thunderstorm is moving through southwestern Oklahoma Saturday evening, and the National Weather Service has placed portions of Caddo and Comanche counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 8:00 PM CDT.

What is happening: At 7:29 PM CDT, radar picked up a severe thunderstorm near Lake Lawtonka, tracking northeast at 30 miles per hour. The warning covers northeastern Comanche County and southeastern Caddo County, including Anadarko, Elgin, Apache, Fletcher, Cyril, Cement, Medicine Park, Meers, Lake Lawtonka, Boone, Fort Sill, Lake Ellsworth, Stecker, and the eastern Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The storm packs 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Local impacts: Hail the size of quarters can dent vehicles and damage roofs and siding. Gusts near 60 miles per hour are strong enough to knock down tree limbs and damage roofs.

What to do:

- Head to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building right away.

- Stay away from windows until the storm passes.

- If you are driving, get off the road and into a sturdy building — never shelter under an overpass.
