# Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Brewster County Through 12:15 AM
Alpine, TX — A severe thunderstorm packing 70-mile-per-hour winds and large hail is rolling across east central Brewster County late tonight. The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the area until 12:15 AM CDT.
**What is happening:** At 11:32 PM Wednesday the storm was spotted 21 miles northeast of Persimmon Gap — about 36 miles southwest of Sanderson — and moving east at 30 miles per hour. The warning covers mainly rural areas of east central Brewster County in southwestern Texas.
**Local impacts:** Radar shows 70 mph wind gusts and ping-pong-ball-size hail. People and animals caught outside could be hurt. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles, considerable tree damage, and wind damage to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
**What to do:**
- Head to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
- Stay away from windows — hail this size can shatter glass.
- Bring pets and anything loose outdoors inside if you can do it safely.
- Hold your position until the storm has fully passed.
