Flash Flood Warning for Western Oklahoma Through 1:30 AM
# Flash Flood Warning for Western Oklahoma Through 1:30 AM
Weatherford, OK — Heavy rain from a stubborn line of thunderstorms keeps western Oklahoma under a Flash Flood Warning tonight, with the National Weather Service in Norman continuing the warning for northwestern Caddo, northwestern Kiowa, southeastern Custer and Washita counties through 1:30 AM CDT Thursday.
## What is happening:
At 11:09 PM CDT, radar and rain gauges showed thunderstorms still producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches have fallen so far, with the heaviest totals near Cordell and Bessie, and another 1 to 2 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
## Local impacts:
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban streets, highways and underpasses, plus other poor-drainage and low-lying areas. Towns in the warned area include Weatherford, Clinton, Hobart, Cordell, Sentinel, Dill City, Corn, Lone Wolf, Bessie, Rocky, Colony, Cloud Chief and Cowden.
## What to do:
- Turn around, don't drown — most flood deaths happen in vehicles.
- If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.
- Be especially careful at night, when floodwater is harder to spot.
