Flash Flood Warning for Western Kleberg County Through 1:30 PM

Breaking news alert for flash flood warning in Texas.

Kingsville, Texas — The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Flash Flood Warning for western Kleberg County in south central Texas, in effect until 1:30 PM Central Time today, Sunday, November 8.

What is happening:

Thunderstorms are dropping heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar and automated rain gauges show between 2 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen, and another 1 to 3 inches are possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The warning covers western Kleberg County, including Kingsville and Ricardo.

Local impacts:

Flash flooding is expected in small creeks and streams, city streets, highways and underpasses, and other low-lying spots with poor drainage. Water can rise fast in these places, and roads can flood with little warning.

What to do:

If you see water rising around you, get to higher ground immediately.

Turn around, do not drown. Never drive through a flooded road or around a barricade, and never walk through moving water.

Most flood deaths happen in vehicles, so do not try to drive across water covering the road.

Stay aware of your surroundings and keep a way to get weather warnings through the afternoon.
